Jesters Theatre Academy was founded in 2012 and is run by a West End Musical actress and a highly experienced performing arts teacher.
Together they have made Jesters THE place to discover your talents and sense of adventure.
The atmosphere at Jesters is happy and relaxed. We believe in learning skills and techniques through fun, and regularly perform full scale productions on stage aided by our professional sound and lighting technicians. We also give public performances and are regularly offered gigs.
All tutors and guest workshop leaders are experienced teachers who are professional choreographers, directors or performers.
Everyone is Welcome at Jesters. Whether you come for the love of performing or whether you come with dreams of having a performing career. Jesters is about nurturing talent and making sure fun is had by taking part in creative drama, funky and fun choreography, and vocal training in musical theatre and pop styles; all whilst making new friends in a relaxed environment.
Jesters prides itself on nurturing and developing each student as an individual which sets us apart from other such stage schools.
Our Story
Annie and Joanna started Jesters out of a love of all things Musical Theatre. Both are professionally trained actresses and have been performers since a young age, both having performed in the West End, on stages across the UK and in TV and film. Annie is also trained dancer and Joanna is an award winning Voiceover Artist. They met whilst teaching for another theatre school and immediately hit it off and became best friends.
The idea for starting a school together came from both ladies having an issue with theatre schools having too many children in a class, too high a fee, not enough personality being shown and feeling detached from their pupils because there were just too many in front of them to connect with.
Jesters started with just seven pupils in one venue and now members are in the triple figures and classes are held in 3 towns!
Annie and Joanna are both dedicated to creating a fun, crazy, friendly and imaginative school. Jesters caters for the individual needs of each pupil. They both strongly believe that EVERY pupil that wants the opportunity to learn and perform should get the chance to take centre stage.
