DO I NEED TO BE EXPERIENCED?

Absolutely not! We welcome all levels of ability and can guarantee that your vocal skills and confidence will improve over time. If you are already experienced we will challenge you and give you opportunities to sing solo and take on larger responsibilities.

WHAT SONGS WOULD WE SING?

So far we have rehearsed and performed songs from Wicked, Les Miserables, Me and My Girl, Chess, Mamma Mia, West Side Story, Aladdin, Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, Cabaret …. And there are many many more musicals to get through!

WHAT DOES “STAGING” MEAN?

Our Movement Director will “move” every song, she will either put you in the scene to form a picture or choreograph you if you’re happy to dance. As this is a theatrical choir it is necessary to bring the songs to life, however nobody will ever need to go out of their comfort zone, if you don’t want to move you really don’t have to!

HOW DO WE LEARN THE SONGS?

We work with orchestrated backing tracks, you will learn all the harmonies by ear and be given lyric sheets for every song. You will also find that over time your “musical ear” will develop more and more.

WHAT SORT OF GIGS DO YOU DO?

As we are based at the Great Baddow Parish Hall in Chelmsford, we are given plenty of opportunities to perform onstage there. We have been invited to sing at charity and annual events such as Help the Heroes and their Beer festival, we also branch out to old people’s homes, hospices, local celebrations (Sparks Will Fly – Hylands Park) and West End Variety shows. We are constantly striving to book gigs for Showchoir.
